What it does

One of the most popular indicators in retail history watches volatility compress, then expand. Xtrade Squeeze Meter keeps that familiar idea — and adds the two dimensions only Bookmap can see: the order book thinning out and the tape going quiet. A squeeze isn't just price going flat; it's fuel draining from the market.

When the squeeze matures, the coiled range locks in and the indicator ARMS both sides — "break 7,282 → LONG / break 7,264 → SHORT". When it fires you get the full trade plan: ENTRY at the range edge, STOP at the range midpoint (half the risk of a full-range stop), TP1 and TP2 at 1x and 2x the range, with live ENTERED / TP1 HIT / TP2 HIT / STOPPED labels. And when neither side breaks in time, FIZZLED says it plainly: no fuel, no trade.

  • ✓Classic squeeze dots plus a pressure line (0-100): price compression + book thinning + tape quietness
  • ✓Self-calibrating trigger: a squeeze is today's quietest 10%, on any instrument
  • ✓Two-sided arming — volatility clustering predicts expansion, not direction (no coin-flip guesses)
  • ✓Full trade plan on fire: entry at the range edge, stop at the midpoint, TP1/TP2 at 1x and 2x the range
  • ✓Standard or Conservative (retest) entry modes; FIZZLED marker when the break never comes
  • ✓Sound alert on fire (on by default — only a few times a day)

FAQ

Why doesn't it pick a direction?

Compression predicts expansion (Mandelbrot 1963; Engle 1982), but no honest research claims it predicts direction. It arms both sides of the coil and lets the market cast the vote.

What data does it need?

Any instrument with depth data; degrades gracefully to price+tape on thin feeds.
